The aim of the course is to introduce the problems of the history and development of German historical novel since the 19th century by means of several well-known examples. The course deals with topics based on the authors´ biographies, presented on the historical background of their work. After illustrating these pieces of knowledge, reading several chosen chapters of these works will follow.

Cílem kurzu je uvést posluchače do problematiky dějin a vývoje německého historického románu od počátku 19. století do současnosti pomocí několika známých příkladů. Obsahem kurzu jsou témata zaměřená na biografie autorů na historickém pozadí jejich tvorby. Na základě objasnění těchto poznatků bude následovat četba několika vybraných kapitol z těchto děl.

Ziel des Kurses ist eine Einführung in die Entwicklung und Geschichte des deutschsprachigen historischen Romans vom Beginn des 19. Jahrhunderts bis in die Gegenwart. Der Schwerpunkt liegt auf den Biographien der Autoren und einer Analyse des historischen Hintergrundes ihres Schaffens, des historisch-politischen Kontextes der Werke und der eingesetzten literarischen Mittel.Zu diesem Zweck werden wir einige ausgewählte Kapitel aus historischen Romanen lesen. Anforderung: regelmäßige Teilnahme (nicht mehr als 2 unentschuldigte Fehlstunden)
