Introduction into the motivation of functional differential equations (FDE) will be given. It will be followed by the theory of qualitative properties of linear and nonlinear systems of FDEs on the segment and on the whole real axes. Further, nonlinear systems will be studied. In the conclusion the properties of FDEs of higher order and their systems will be summarized. The lecture is based on the results published during the last decade. The lecturer is co-author of the monograph on linear systems of FDEs and he is preparing the other one concerning nonlinear case.
