Annotation -
Last update: REZACOVA/MFF.CUNI.CZ (29.04.2008)
The course deals with the application of cloud and precipitation physics in various non-meteorological fields and discusses examples of the applied mathematical modelling of cloud and precipitation processes. Specific examples considered in more details are the influence of cloud and precipitation on microwave propagation, estimation of probable maximum precipitation and cooling tower plume modelling.
Aim of the course -
Last update: REZACOVA/MFF.CUNI.CZ (29.04.2008)

The course aims at acquainting the students with applications of cloud physics in other meteorological and physical fields. The results of applied research projects from IAP ASCR are stressed.

Ústní zkouška v rozsahu témat daných sylabem.

Syllabus -
Last update: T_KMOP (09.05.2004)

1. Specification of the topic - applied microphysics and dynamics of cloud and precipitation

2. The use of microphysics of cloud and precipitation in the modelling of microwave attenuation (determination and mapping of atmospheric refractivity (beta0 definition), and of cloud and rain water)

3. The application of cloud and precipitation physics to the estimation of probable maximum precipitation

4. Mathematical modelling of cooling tower plumes by the aplication of cloud models to estimate the effect of cooling tower plumes on local weather and climate.
