The course is a free continuation of lectures about X-ray diffraction and describes basic principles used for determination of molecular structure. It elucidates challenges of protein crystallography and time-resolved crystallography, which opened new areas in investigation of structure and function of bio-macromolecules. The course shows different usages of the synchrotron radiation sources and slow neutron sources for determination of molecular structures in atomic resolution. It is accompanied by examples of measurement and by applications of the methods for elucidation of function of biological systems and for design of new drugs
