Crystallography
Crystallographic symmetry operations, point groups, crystallographic systems, lattices, space groups, symmetry of cylindrical and helical molecules, symmetry of spherical viruses.

Basic diffraction conditions
Reciprocal lattice, diffraction conditions, Bragg´s law, geometry of basic diffraction methods, Ewald´s construction.

Kinematical theory
Atomic scattering factor, structure factor, interference function, intensity of X-ray reflections in maximum and integrated intensity, peak width.

Experimental methods of structure analysis
Stereographic projection and crystal orientation by the Laue method, the method of rotating crystal, Weissenberg method, precession method, X-ray diffractometers, powder method of Debye and Scherrer

Structure analysis
Fourier transformation of electron density, "phase problem", methods of crystal structure solution, structure refinement

Application of structure analysis in materials research
Determination of lattice parameters, identification and quantitative phase analysis, texture, macroscopic and microscopic stresses, size of crystallites

Biological materials
Structure determination of fiber molecules, globular proteins, spherical viruses, study of interatomic bonds, reconstruction of structure from electron micrographs, time lenses.
