The aim of the seminar is to introduce practical approaches for processing and visualization of meteorological datasets as well as utilization of the geographical information systems in meteorology and climatology. The first part of the seminar is intended mainly for description of various software tools and system environment; the second part of the seminar is aimed on practical applications of gained knowledge.

Introduction of selected software tools and programming languages that are suitable for processing of meteorological and climatological datasets. Specifically, the attention will be paid to programming in languages and software environments R, IDL, Surfer and ArcGIS. Outputs of climate models along with observed meteorological datasets will be studied within the seminar.
