V průběhu semináře se studenti seznamují s kulturní geografií - předmětem a objektem studia, hlavními směry kulturněgeografických výzkumů ve světě a v Česku ("školami" a osobnostmi) a postavením kulturní geografie v systému geografických disciplín. Diskutují přínos kulturní geografie regionálnímu studiu. Analyzují jednotlivé složky kultury a jejich vztah k vývoji/rozvoji regionů. Diskutovány jsou též otázky kulturní politiky, kulturních konfliktů, vymezení a vývoj kulturních regionů a hranic.
V semináři jsou uplatněny prvky distančního vzdělávání - důraz je kladen na samostatnou práci studentů (jednotlivců) i týmovou spolupráci. Interaktivní forma výuky umožňuje studentům uplatnit poznatky např. z politické, historické, religiózní a dalších disciplín geografie, kulturní/sociální antropologie apod.

Volitelný seminář. Seminář z kulturní geografie sestává z následujících bloků:

1. Kulturní geografie - tradiční a ?nová" kulturní geografie; časopisy, věda a výzkum v kulturní geografii. Postavení disciplíny v systému věd, hlavní představitelé. Prostorové aspekty kultury.

2. Kultura, hranice, region a místo - proces vzniku a formování kultury; lokalizace kultury; regiony a hranice v kulturní geografii (formování regionů); centrum a periferie v kulturní geografii; kultura a geografie každodennosti.

3. Identita - regionální identita; ?my" versus ?oni" v kulturní geografii; kulturní sounáležitost; složky identity.

4. Krajina - kulturní krajina; využití ploch; krajina jako symbol; paměť krajiny; program UNESCO ?Člověk a biosféra".

5. Dědictví - přírodní a kulturní dědictví; kulturní diverzita; hodnota místa/regionu; genius loci; využití kultury v managementu území.

6. Jazyk, etnicita, konflikt - kultura a politika; kulturní politika; kulturní války.

Podmínky zápočtu: účast 75 %, pravidelná příprava na semináře a sestavení osobního portfolia

Podmínky zkoušky: splnění podmínek k zápočtu + esej
