Rocks mass as a technical category, is a part of our natural cuveronment which is used as a base for dams, bridges and other different structure constructions, in which tunnels and underground caverns are excavated, which is subjected to gravitational forces that can cause instability, e.g. in natural or artificially extcavated slopes. In the subject of rock mechanics the student will be acquainted with the behaviour of rock masses under static and/ or dynamic stresses.
