Finite strain tensor and its application to homogeneous deformation. Displacement field, velocity strain field. Applications to natural deformations.Complex strain regimes: Transpression, transtension and combined deformation regimes. Heterogeneous deformation. Shear zone geometrical analysis and kinematical analysis of shear zones patterns.Deformation of anisotropic systems. Layer parallel shortening. Biot and Ramberg analysis of single- and multilayer systems. Advanced methods of fold shape analysis.Layer perpendicular shortening. Boudinage and shear bands developments. Stress tensor, Mohr circle for stress. Paleostress analysis of fault populations. Fracture topography and joint analysis. Joint networks. Stress and fluid pressure.

Polyphase structural analysis of high grade metamorphic terrains and orogenic root systems. Melt interactions and regional structures in migmatitic terrains.Magma emplacements in various tectonic regimes, concept of diapirism and passive emplacement, plutons and host rock interactions,flows of magmas and homogeneous rock deformations.Finite strain patterns and large scale structures. Crustal napes, strike-slip tectonics and intracontinental basins.
