The lecture Polar Regions is devoted to Polar Regions, the Antarctica and the Arctic. In each lecture blocks, students are introduced to 1) the basic information about Polar Regions, their definitions, common features and differences, as well as the regional physical geography of both Polar Regions, 2) the history of discoveries and research of both Polar Regions, 3) the geological evolution and geomorphology of the Antarctica and the Arctic, 4) the climate, glaciation, hydrology and oceanography of Polar Regions and their evolution in time, 5) the flora and fauna of both Polar Regions, 6) the territorial claims and the International Antarctic law and the settlement of both Polar Regions, including their economic exploitation.
