During the course 5-7 assignments will be set, each graded with a specified point gain. To pass the exam, you will have to gain a specific amount of points for each grade. The grading scale and terms of submitting assignments will be announced during lectures. There will be no need to submit all assignments to successfully complete the course (4 assignment submissions are expected). Additionally, each student is expected to give a short presentation about demographic change in his/her country of origin.

The course provides the introduction to theoretical concepts on demographic change, insights into the main factors of demographic dynamics, as well as an overview to contemporary interdisciplinary research in population studies. Secondly, the real manifestation of demographic processes and impact of demographic change on the economic and social systems, and social life will be analysed and discussed. Special attention will be devoted to policy programs and strategic documents on national and supranational levels to introduce measures seeking to regulate/mitigate/adapt to demographic impacts.

The first lecture will be held on Thursday, October 6th 2022.

The course will be based on synchronous online/onsite teaching, self-study and assignments.

The topics of lectures are published in Moodle. Enrolled students will receive access to the course on September 30th.
