Annotation -
Last update: prof. RNDr. Petr Hodek, CSc. (14.02.2017)
Practical course (3 days) is designed to teach students essential principles of aseptic work and basic techniques used in microbiology labs. Students will carry out media inoculations, staining and microscopy of microorganisms, sweep tests, antibiotic sensitivity, determination of growth curve, separation of bacterial mixture, metabolic identification, transformation of bacteria, and preparation of fermented milk products. The knowledge gained in the basic Biochemistry course is recommended and expected.
Aim of the course -
Last update: HPTEST/NATUR.CUNI.CZ (24.11.2009)

The aim of the practical course is to make students familiar with the basic methodology used in microbiology.

Entry requirements -
Last update: RNDr. Tomáš Ječmen, Ph.D. (03.01.2020)

The schedule of the practice and laboratory safety will be discussed at the mandatory entry meeting, the date of which will be announced after the beginning of the summer semester. A short entry test will be a part of the meeting and passing it is a requirement for attending the practice. The questions will address topics of LABORATORNÍ CVIČENÍ Z BIOLOGIE A BIOCHEMIE MIKROORGANISMŮ (Páca a kol.) textbook (Chapters 1-11) and a brief description of an experiment from Chapter 12.

Biochemistry and Biology of Microorganisms (MC250P08) is a prerequisite or a corequisite for this practical course.
