the aim is to share information and opinions on ways of teaching selected topics among invited experts, students teachers and teachers from practice at secondary and primary schools, or employees of ecocentres and other educational organizations. For each year, the overarching topic of the entire cycle of lectures is selected, which is based on current needs and proposals of students of the previous year and reflects the suggestions of experienced teachers, the staff of the Department of Teaching and didactics of biology and current modern trends in teaching. The individual lectures follow each other freely and complement each other. After each lecture is given space for discussion on questions of participants, sharing experiences and didactic materials. This year, it will also develop competencies for distance and online teaching and strengthen digital competences. Current materials and organizational changes will be shared through Google Classroom. Main themes of the last years: 2019/20 - Teaching biology in environmental context 2018/19 - Coexistence and communication 2017/18 - Diseases, disorders and disturbances 2016/17 - Biology in Prague and its surroundings |

The attendance is recorded in the course. Practical teachers will receive a certificate of completion of the lecture cycle. Students of teacher training seeking credit are allowed 1 absence, the second can replace the agreement with the guarantor of the subject with a special task. In addition to the required attendance, all students will work out 2 tasks:
1. Find an article in the tabloid that advertises a new biological discovery or other sensation. To this article to find the original source, which deals with the issue. The student compares these two articles in writing.
2. Look for an interesting biological article in a reputable professional journal and try to popularize it in writing so as not to distort information.
3. Choose one of the topics of the lecture series and design an experimental research-oriented task (it is possible to use and modify existing online resources)
