Survey of the basic literature on the mammal fauna of Europe (identification keys, maps of distribution, figures).

Division of the Europe according to major biogeogrphical regions.

A brief survey of the historical development of the knowledge about the European mammal fauna.

Current progress in identification of kryptic mammal species by molecular methods, karyology and morphometry.

Insectivores (Soricomorpha and Erinaceomorpha) - species survey, identification characters, distribution, ecology.

Bats (Chiroptera) - species survey, identification characters, distribution, ecology.

Carnivores (Carnivora) - species survey, identification characters, distribution, ecology.

Even-toed ungulates (Artiodactyla) - species survey, identification characters, distribution, ecology.

Rabbits, hares, pikas (Lagomorpha)- species survey, identification characters, distribution, ecology.

Rodents (Rodentia) - species survey, identification characters, distribution, ecology.

Primtes (Primates) - the only European monkey, history of its European occurrence, ecology.
