The aim of the course is to introduce students to the basic topics of the economic development of the Czech lands
from the 10th to the end of the 15th century. This is done in the context of major trends in the European continent.
The starting point is the early medieval Přemyslid state of the 10th century. The main themes are the
transformations of the 13th century, the crisis of the late Middle Ages and the Hussite movement, the plague
epidemics and the transformations of the 15th century. The aim of the lecture is to provide an interpretative
alternative to sometimes overly exposed political history.
