In the lecture series, the students will learn about the history of Christianity in the period of the modern age in the years 1492-1789. The key topic is the multifaceted effects of the Reformation and the Counter-Reformation on the further development of Christianity and the entire Western civilization. Within the subject, students will penetrate into the basic trends of the historical development of Western Christianity in the 16th-18th century. Students will primarily understand the effects of the division of Latin Christianity into several mutually defining confessions. On the basis of lectures, discussions and the reading of compulsory specialist literature, students will understand the relations between the Church, society and the state.
