Annotation
Last update: PhDr. Markéta Jarošová, Ph.D. (21.02.2024)
During the seminar, students will introduce the collections and institutions such as the National Gallery, the National Museum, UPM, and the Rudolfinum Gallery in Prague and think about their "world" significance. The task will therefore be to evaluate selected institutions with their collections not only from the Czech context but to compare them with "world collections".
Students are divided into individual groups. Each group will share topics related to the history of the collection, their collection fund, the most important masterpieces, and their comparison with the representation of similar works in world collections - medieval, renaissance, baroque, and modern art, including art&crafts + at the end we will visit and evaluate the current exhibition in the gallery Rudolfinum.
Aim of the course

The aim of the seminar is to introduce students to selected examples of museum and gallery institutions around the world and explore their character and significance. Thinking about cultural heritage in the world context is essential for understanding European museums and galleries' relationship.
