The aim of lecture is to bring students nearer to the mentioned auxiliary science. The lectures are general (that means not recognizing concrete coat-of-arms), that is the
development of arms and their contents. Besides heraldry there are other forms of its use in other auxiliary
sciencies. It all is a subject of reigning style and taste of concrete era.

Cílem přednášek je přiblížit studentům uvedené pomocné vědy historické a tím přispět k lepšímu pochopení. Přednášky jsou zaměřeny obecně, tj.
nikoliv na rozpoznávání konkrétních znaků, pečetí či řádů, ale na smysl symbolů, jejich vývoj a obsah. Každá z
památek uvedených vědních oborů má v daném historickém kontextu svou výpovědní hodnotu, kterou by se
studenti měli naučit rozpoznávat. Nepřehlédnutelnou skutečností je i to, že jednotlivé projevy heraldiky, sfragistiky
či faleristiky podléhaly vkusu a slohovým požadavkům konkrétní doby a staly se tak vlastně samostatnými
uměleckými artefakty.
