A series of lectures on introduction to art history teaches students about the history of the field, its basic concepts
and terminology, working methods, institutions related to the history of art and instruments to study the field.
Attention will be also paid to the position of art history in the hierarchy of historical sciences, as well as to
comparison of the system of studies of art history in Czech republic and abroad, art criticism and questions of
museum and gallery installations. Lecture will also teach students the correct form of writing scientific papers. Last
but not least, lectures will also affect the relation of religious monuments with their original context. This series of
lectures thus conveys listeners definition of art history as a field of historical sciences, with his tools in the broadest
sense, together with an indication of the importance of specific forms of knowledge that art history enrich
humanities.
