The course is designed for all students who want to improve their language skills in French in connection with current news in the world. The course is held in French only.

Aim of the course -

Our aim is to learn to understand spoken and written words in news coverage presented in French (global and detailed understanding) and to be able to capture the main information and to summarize it briefly. To expand vocabulary and improve communication skills (discussion) in connection with current events happening in the world. To enhance critical thinking, improve the formulation of problems in a foreign language, and perceive events in context.

Teaching methods are based on working with authentic materials adopted from the media. The seminar will mainly take the form of a joint discussion of the current world events. Students will present selected news.

50% active participation in the course (discussion), homeworks
50% presentation of selected news from the francophone area and other parts of the world in a broader context, including elaboration of "fiche" (vocabulary, key concepts, abstracts)

On the grammatical level: l'expression de la pensée (indicatif et subjonctif), le discours direct et indirect (conversion of direct speech into indirect), connectors, etc.
