Annotation
This course is a loose continuation of the JLB039. This course focuses on the deepening of language skills and on the vocabulary from the field of humanities. This course is designed for students of both a BA degree and a MA degree from any study field. A prerequisite for this course is intermediate level, i.e. roughly the first 21 lessons from the textbook "Ruština nejen pro samouky".

Lessons take a form of a seminar using a co-operative method - pairwork, groupwork, discussions, brainstorming.

Classified credit requirements:

written part:

1) Hand-written synopses of the texts read in the seminars (5 sentences) and a one-page commentary to one of them based on one’s own choice. Both are to be submitted prior to writing the test; I will gladly provide the authors with the corrections of their continuously submitted papers.

2) Test examines the ability to understand an unknown socioscientific text to give one's own opinion on a given topic, active knowledge of grammar and vocabulary studied during the course.

Your end-of-year score will be based on the marks received in the class, individual progress and achievements in the final test.

The assessment scale:

0-50 % = F 
51-60 % = E 
61-70 % = D 
71-80 %=C 
81-90 %=B
91% and more=A 

A - outstanding performance with only minor errors, B - above the average standard but with some errors, C - generally sound work with a number of notable errors, D - fair but with significant shortcomings, E - performance meets the minimum criteria, F - fail – considerable further work is required

The first 60 minutes are going to involve work with the textbook (usually lessons 22-24); the other half is going to cover readings of the texts from the field of humanities.
