This subject will provide students of bachelor combined study in Media Studies with particular knowledge of communication codes and operations which take place in media communication, as well as sign systems and conventions being used in media semiosis. The aim of this course is to offer the students basic findings on natural language (languages) and on other semiotic codes, which are used in media communication. The grammatical codification of the Czech language is the integral part of the examination at the end of the course.

Na příkladech komunikátů (simplexních i komplexních) ze současných českých sdělovacích prostředků si posluchači osvojí základní terminologii i interpretační postupy, s nimiž se operuje při rozboru a výkladu mediální komunikace. Součástí kurzu jsou i praktická cvičení, na nichž se ověřují teoretické poznatky z přednášek a samostatného studia.

Zkouška se nejdříve odehrává prostřednictvím "multiple choice" testů. Ti, kteří u testů neuspějí, mají pak možnost složit zkoušku ústně.
