Physiology of sport and exercise, exercise testing, growth, development, and young athlete, aging and the older athlete, gender issues and the female athlete, sports training, exercise prescription for special cases (diabetes mellitus, obesity, chronic obstructive respiratory disorders, coronary heart disease, hypertension, valvular and congenital heart disease, pregnancy).

Requirements necessary for the credit
Participation in lectures and practical classes is a prerequisite for the credit.
A maximum of two excused absences are allowed; excuses must be sent only in advance to the excuse form. In case of a higher number of absences, the situation will be resolved individually with the Head of the Department of Internal Medicine.

Lectures and practicals

Reaction and adaptation of the organism to stress. Cardiovascular system and physical activity.

Physiology of physical activity.

The influence of the external environment on physical performance - physical activity in the heat, physical activity in the cold, the specifics of staying in an alpine environment.

Ergometry, spiroergometry. Functional condition evaluation, stress tests.

Training and regeneration (basic components of training, training plan, basic problems of regeneration, overload, overtraining, RED-S syndrome). Training by heart rate.

Sudden death in sports, pre-participation screening.  Preventive examination by a physical education physician, legislation.

Nutrition and hydration of the athlete, food supplements (basic components of nutrition, optimal hydration of the athlete, risk of dehydration, hyperhydration). Somatotypes.

Specifics of sports activities for women and children, Cold-induced asthma. Inherited performance factors.

Health problems of diving (freediving and scuba diving), Pulmonary oedema of swimmers and divers.
