The main focus of the course Internal Medicine III is cardiology, endocrinology, diabetes and nephrology. Entry requirements: successful completion of Physiology II Outcomes (knowledge and clinical skills): Establish knowledge of clinical patient examination, differential diagnosis and therapy. Knowledge of basic cardiology, endocrinology, diabetes and nephrology.

Outcomes (knowledge and clinical skills):  

1) Establish the knowledge of clinical examination of the patients, differential diagnosis and therapy 

2) Knowledge of the essentials of cardiology, endocrinology, diabetes and nephrology.

Participation in seminars and practicals 

No more than two excused absences are allowed; excuses must be sent only in advance by e-mail to the Academic Department of Internal Medicine. In case of a higher number of absences the situation will be delt individually with the Head of the Academic Department of Internal Medicine.  

 

Exam 

First and second attempt: Test in Moodle, which will be graded as follows 

> 80 % excellent 

60-79 % very good 

50-59 % good 

Third attempt: commissional oral exam

Students will complete 14 practicals which will focus on:  

  • mastering the basic clinical examination of a patient 

  • presentation of typical cases to demonstrate the principles of differential diagnosis and therapy 

  • learning about the specialised departments of internal medicine clinics 

  • CPR practicals
