The course of ME allows the students to extend and build up their knowledge of English in medicine, especially terminology. The instruction is based on reading and interpreting medical texts, practising to understand lectures (presented also by video), moderating discussions, and discussing some controversial issues. The students are given an array of exercises directed at terms and syntax of the medical style. They learn to write and present some topics, including a written summary. The subjects of presentations, that the students prepare individually or in group work (consultations with the lecturer possible), will cover some diseases and disorders of various systems. Attention will be also given to differences of British and American English.

Kurz ME dává možnost rozšíření a upevnění znalostí odborného jazyka v medicíně. Výuka je zaměřena především rozšíření odborné terminologie na základě čtení a interpretace odborných textů, osvojení dovednosti porozumění odborné přednášky (také video), moderování a diskuse na kontroverzní témata. Studenti mají řadu cvičení zaměřených na termíny a syntaktické prostředky odborného stylu. Učí se vypracovat a prezentovat referáty, včetně jejich resumé. Témata referátů, které si studenti připraví samostatně nebo ve skupinách (s možností konzultace s lektorkou), pokryjí choroby a poruchy různých systémů. Pozornost se věnuje i rozdílům britské a americké angličtiny, zejména v pravopise.
