The course is focused on the use of biomarkers in personalized (precision) medicine (medicine "tailored" to the patient),
on methods of their determination and the importance of storing and sharing biological samples in biobanks for
biomarker research. The course content interconnects several disciplines, such as laboratory diagnostics, pathology
and biostatistics, and emphasizes the practical use of this "symbiosis" for clinical decision-making and therefore the
benefit of the patient, but also for biomedical research.
The course is organized in cooperation with the Department of Pathology and Biobank of the partner University of
Regensburg. with students of the partner university, and includes practical lab exercises both in Pilsen and Regensburg.
