ANNOTATION OF THE SUBJECT INTERNAL MEDICINE FOR DENTAL MEDICINE, 4 year, winter semester:
The subject Internal Medicine for students of dental medicine contains 13 lectures and 13 practicals. Students are acquainted with the principles of ethical approach to patients, taking medical history, doing physical examination of individual body parts and organ systems. Practical teaching takes place mainly in the wards of the Department of Internal Medicine and Department of Cardiology and consist of 13 practicals. Teaching in this semester is concentrated at cardiovascular medicine, pulmonology and hematology. A detailed syllabus of the course is given in the attachment (Syllabus/Lectures). Practicals are focused on the general approach to the patient with cardiovascular, respirtory or hematological problem, the description of the patients´s chief complaint, history of present illness and past medical history. Students carry out systematic physical examination of patients. We emphasize the systematic approach to investigations of individual parts of the body or organ systems. Students learn to recognize physiological and pathological findings. Thorough examination of the patient gives the student an invaluable practical experience. The student learns empathy, sensitive approach. Contact with the patient is the most and we emphasize it; however, training in the seminar room, descriptions of ECG records or watching instructional videos are also part of the course. During practicals, students will also visit various departments of the internal and cardiology clinic, where they follow examinations (eg echocardiography, coronarography, spirometry etc.). Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes: Lectures are optional, but we strongly recommend participation. Condition for granting the credit is participation in practicals (we tolerate 20% duly excused and compensated absence).

The subject Internal Medicine for students of dental medicine contains 13 lectures and 13 practicals. Students are acquainted with the principles of ethical approach to patients, taking medical history, doing physical examination of individual body parts and organ systems. Practical teaching takes place mainly in the wards of the Department of Internal Medicine and Department of Cardiology and consist of 13 practicals. Teaching in this semester is concentrated at endocrine deseases, diabetes mellitus, rheumatology and diffrential diagnosis of internal diseases. Practicals are focused on the patients with diabetes, endocrine and rheumatology diseases, patients with edema, chest pain, fever ect. A detailed syllabus of the course is given in the attachment (Syllabus/Lectures) and the practicals schoul concntrate at the topics just mentioned in lectures. Students examine patients and collect relevant information about patients´s chief complaints, history of present illness and past medical history. Students carry out physical examination of patients. We emphasize the systematic approach to investigations of individual parts of the body or organ systems. Students learn to recognize physiological and pathological findings. Thorough examination of the patient gives the student an invaluable practical experience. The student learns empathy, sensitive approach. Anotace k výuce Vnitřního lékařství ve 4. ročníku Zubního lékařství – letní semestr

Přednášky (2 hodiny týdně) budou věnovány nejčastějším onemocněním v endokrinologii, což jsou především nemoci štítné žlázy, hypofýzy a nadledvin. Větší pozornost bude věnována poruchám metabolismu glukózy, tj. diabetes mellitus. Revmatologické choroby a systémové choroby pojiva budou zaměřeny především na projevy v ústní dutině. Přednášky tohoto semestru se budou věnovat i další problematice, která je důležitá pro budoucí stomatology, tj. revmatologii, chorobám kloubním a kostním, nemocem pojivové tkáně, nejčastějším otravám a poškozením zdraví z fyzikálních příčin. V závěrečném bloku přednášek se budou probírat základní diferenciálně diagnostické postupy, které umožní souhrnně zopakovat nejčastější a nejdůležitější nemoci z vnitřního lékařství, které by měl stomatolog znát. Přednášky jsou sice nepovinné, ale silně doporučujeme účast na nich. Studentovi velmi pomohou správně se zorientovat v podstatných aspektech interny a jsou prospěšné v přípravě na závěrečnou zkoušku.
Praktická výuka (2 hodiny týdně) v letním semestru 4. r. bude opakováním a přípravou na závěrečnou zkoušku z VL. Opět se vyžaduje během praktické výuky přezutí, bílý plášť a fonendoskop. Bude probíhat procvičování anamnézy a fyzikálního vyšetřování, opakování a procvičování základních patologických nálezů na EKG křivkách. Údaje získané odběrem anamnézy a fyzikálním vyšetřením budou konfrontována s výsledky laboratorních a zobrazovacích testů a studenti se budou učit je zasazovat do klinických souvislostí (kontextu). Podmínkou pro udělení zápočtu na konci zimního semestru 4. r. je opět 100% účast na praktické výuce. Je tolerováno 20% omluvených a nahrazených absencí.
Třetí semestr výuky VL bude završen závěrečnou zkouškou z VL. Náplní zkoušky budou témata probíraná v průběhu všech tří semestrů výuky VL. Zkouška z VL bude provedena po skončení výuky, po obdržení zápočtu za tento semestr a probíhá podle Pravidel pro organizaci studia na FL v Plzni. Konkrétní struktura a náplň zkoušky (seznam otázek), uveřejní vedoucí (=garant) předmětu na začátku semestru. Zkouška se koná na pracovišti garanta předmětu, tj. buď na 1. interní klinice (studenti vstupující do 3. ročníku studia v sudém kalendářním roce) nebo na 2. interní klinice (studenti vstupující do 3. ročníku studia v lichém kalendářním roce). Na zkoušku se přihlašují studenti elektronicky v programu SIS. Pokud by chtěl student složit zkoušku v tzv. předtermínu, jeho vyučující praktického cvičení zváží, zda je student připraven a schválí, že student může složit zkoušku před ukončením letního semestru. Toto rozhodnutí potvrdí zápočtem v indexu. Bez zápočtů ze všech tří semestrů výuky VL nelze přistoupit k závěrečné zkoušce.

Requirements to the exam

The condition of acceptance to the exam is a credit. Students enroll in the exam electronically, using the prescribed terms. On the given day and hour, they will come to the seminary room (entrance B, floor 5); take the pen with you. Students draw the exam questions and after 20-minute preparation they approach to the oral examination.
