The 4th part of the Module IA - 2nd year, Summer term. During this semester the anatomy of the CNS and sense organs, and the topographical anatomy of the head, neck and trunk are taught, in frame of the Module IA "Structure and function of the human body", in a close coordination with the histology, physiology and biochemistry of these body systems.
Aim of the course -
Last update: prof. MUDr. Josef Stingl, CSc. (06.08.2008)

The aim of this term is a completion of the anatomical structure of the human body, i.e. the presentation of the structure of the CNS and of the sense organs. The teaching of the topographical anatomy if finalised by a dissection of the head, neck and trunk on embalmed cadavers.

The matter is taught in the form of lectures (theoretical, facultative), seminars and practical trainings (obligatory), and of dissection course (10 days, obligatory). On the practical trainings real specimens are demonstrated and studied. Detailed contents of the lectures and practical trainings are published on the web sites of the Department of anatomy. There is a close coordination in the teaching of particular organ system with the histology, physiology and biochemistry, in the frame of the module IA, and are finished by two integration conferences, on which the students are faced to demonstration of actual and real clinical problems, related to the normal anatomy of the CNS and that of the sense organs.

Requirements to the exam -
Last update: prof. MUDr. Josef Stingl, CSc. (06.08.2008)

The conditions for the obtaining the anatomical parts of the credits in this semester are following: 1. minimally 80% presence on the practical training and on the dissection course, 2.: successfull passing of the oral practical examination on the macroscopy of the CNS, 3.: successfull passing of the oral practical post-dissection examination, 4.: minimally 70% success in the written multiple-choice test on the cerebral pathways and sense organs. The second attempt after failure is done by the same teacher during next two weeks. Also the test is repeated in two weeks. After two failures, all the next examinations are to be done by the department chairman in an oral form, either during the last week of the Summer term or during the whole following examination weeks (June and September), in all cases after an individual consultation with the examiner.
