COURSE DESCRIPTION: "Czech for Foreigners" focuses on improving language competencies and prepares foreign medical students for communication with Czech patients and medical staff. Vocabulary includes words and phrases which are necessary for effective medical communication with the medical staff and effective communication with patients.

COURSE OBJECTIVE:

The objective of this course is to extend the knowledge of the Czech language acquired in the previous year's course (CMCLXX21) and prepare the student to be an effective communicator in the Czech medical system.

Czech for Foreigners 2nd year - credit requirements

Winter term and Summer term:

attendance of the course (min. of 70%);

 2 revision tests - midterm and final, each equals 30 and 40 points respectively. During the semester there will be other three with 10 points for each passed test. If the students manage to gather at least 70 points over the winter/summer semester course, and they meet the requirements of attendance, they will be given a credit for the respective semester. There are no resits for any of the tests taken during the course.

 If the students fail to gather enough points during the course, they will have to take the Winter / Summer Credit Test  in  order to get the credit (the first date will be held  during the 15th week of instruction, re-takes during the examination period).  70% is the required pass rate; 1 regular and 3 resits are allowed.

Oral examination at the end of the second year is comprised of Everyday Czech Communication and basic Medical Czech.
