Lessons on pathologic anatomy and pathologic physiology are included into the problem-oriented courses of the Module IIC. The topics of pathology lessons correspond to theme of particular course.

The aim of the subject is to provide students information on causes and mechanisms of basic pathologic processes and pathomorphologic characteristics of diseases.The course interconnects functional and morphological knowledge obtained in foregoing years and clinical specialties. It is essential for understanding principals of scientific medicine.

Requirements for credit award in Pathology - Module IIC

1. Presence at the practical lessons of individual courses of the Module II C is mandatory. Absence less than 20% can be tolerated, but in serious reasons only (like disease).

2. Successful passing of tests at the end of following courses:

Disturbances of the nervous system

Dyspnoe and chest pain

GIT and abdominal complaints

Tumours

Disorders of reproduction and development of the fetus.

Locomotion disorders

Bleeding

Endocrine and metabolic disorders

The test is successfully passed if 70% questions are answered correctly.

In the case when student does not pass (fails) the test, repetition of the test will be performed in the date established by the examiner.

In the case when student does not pass (fails) the second test, oral examination by the leader of pathology section of particular course will follow in the date established by the examiner. The student can not write the final credit test (see point 3) if she/he does not fulfil all the conditions of the point 2.

3. Successful passing of final credit test. This test covers all topics of individual courses of Module IIC and all topics demonstrated at the lectures on Pathology.

Topics are summarized in the "Core pathology". (see web pages of the Department of Pathology)

The test is successfully passed if 2/3 of questions are answered correctly.

In the case when student does not pass (fails) the test, repetition of the test can be performed in all of the substitute dates established by the Department of Pathology.

No oral examination will be allowed for these students who do not pass ( who fail) the test.

Conditions for getting a credit from pathological physiology:

1.Passing the pre-exam test from pathophysiology.

Terms for test writing will be done at the beginning of the summer term.The test will be written at the lecture hall (Ruská); then at the department (Ke Karlovu), where will proceed also case study examination and eventually repetizion of the tests.

The test has the multiple-choice form. The students need 75% and more correct answers for successful passing.

2.Knowledge of the topics taught throughout the term. The principal way of evaluation is the case study individually given to and discussed with the teachers after writing the test. Students can use textbooks when they prepare the case study discussion, that´s why there is not the list of case studies on the faculty web pages.

If the student does not meet the teachers requirements for the credit (passing the test or sufficient knowledge of the pathophysiological principals of the case study), he (she) has another chance to write the test and to discuss the case study. If he (she) has failed again, the next possibility of getting credit is the examination by professor Mareš or other teachers of pathophysiology.

Students, who passed credit during the last school year, may not repeat it again. The credit is admitted.
