Elective course for students of the 3rd or 4th year, since the school year 2008/09 being taught in English, for both the students of Czech and English curriculum. On selected themes is demonstrated the usefullness and necessity of some special anatomical facts, above all for their implementation into the clinical practice, namely in the surgical disciplines. On the lectures take also part invited clinical teachers, presenting their selected clinical-anatomical reports, based on real clinical subjects.

The aim of this course is an improvement of knowledge of selected clinical-anatomical facts for highly motivated students, interested namely in the surgical disciplines. The contents of the course should offer the students a better orientation in many clinical disciplines, based on learning of special and detailed anatomical facts.

There is no textbook exactly available, some informations have been published on the web sites of the Department of anatomy.

The course consists of system of lectures. In the summer semester one of the lectures includes a practical part, in which the students have the possibility of an active individual training on real laparoscopic instruments, illustrating them real surgical procedures.

There is not prescribed any final examination. Both semesters are finished by credits, the only condition for obtaining them is a good presence (minimally 80%) on the lectures, which is controlled by the lecturers.

Winter semester:

  • the anterior abdominal wall
  • inguinal region, groin herniae
  • vermiform appendix, right and left iliac fossa
  • biliary ducts
  • stomach
  • duodenum, pancreas, spleen

Summer semester:

  • clinical anatomy of the hand
  • clinical anatomy of the pelvis
  • the morphology of the microcirculatory bed, its clinical relevance
  • laparoscopic surgical methods and procedures
  • clinical anatomy of the vertebral column
  • clinical anatomy of the peripheral nerves
  • visit on the Department of anatomy of the 1st Medical Faculty (study of the museal specimens)

The only condition for the participation on the course is the successfull finishing of the second year.
