Improvement and enhancement of practical skills obtained during training in surgery.
Aim of the course -

The aim of this practical training is to show the routines of a surgical in-patient hospital ward and duties of junior physicians on the ward.
Students shall acquire or improve clinical skills in examination and therapeutic practice.
Students perform all activities under a physician's supervision.

To receive a credit student has to submit:

1) Report on the evaluation of the practical experience - surgery

2) Syllabus - surgery

All these forms must be signed and stamped by a responsible person (ie. head of the department)

1. Out -patients (lst week)
- Clinical interview, Physical examination techniques, Development of the diagnosis in patients with:
a) an injury (and their treatment)
b) an abdominal emergency (indications for operation)
c) other cases of emergency (indication for admission to the hospital)
2. In-patients (2nd week)
Taking part in the Ward Round (daily and special)
- Looking after the patients:
a) clinical parameters
b) laboratory parameters
c) other examination methods
- Preoperation care
- Operation assistance
- Postoperation care - prevention of the complications (infective, pulmonary, embolic)
- Prevention of decubites
Students perform all acts and practice under the supervision of a doctor.
