The subject deals with pharmacotherapy in relation to the nutritional state of the patient, effects of drugs in obese patients and with cachexia. Emphasis is placed on weight-gaining or decreasing drugs, the pharmacotherapy of obesity and anorexia, and the pharmaco-therapeutic specifics in patients with selected diagnoses, such as diabetes mellitus, osteoporosis, cancer.

Předmět prohlubuje znalosti studenta stran farkokinetických a farmakodynamických vlastností léků s důrazem na několik patozyiologických aspektů. Jednak s ohledem na nutriční stav pacienta (podvýživa, nadváha, obezita). Důraz je kladen na léčiva zvyšující nebo snižující hmotnost, na specifika u pacientů s vybranými diagnózami, např. diabetes mellitus, osteoporóza, nádorové onemocnění.
