The subject serves to make students familiar in more detail with modern techniques implemented in routine diagnostics im microbiology and immunology not only in theory, but in hands-on practice with selected techniques. Excurssion in a routine diagnostic laboratory will be added.
Aim of the course -

Participant of the course will be made familiar with modern techniques, priciples of which they have learned in obligatory subjects of microbiology, iommunology and biochemistry. Automation possibilities will be presented. Focuse on implementing techniques for genome sequence detection of infectious agents as well as sio called cassette tests based on raúpid antigen detection directly in the office of general practicioner. Students will get the chance to make the tests hand-on.

One week block course in the students laboratories of the Department of Immunology and Microbiology using equipment purchased for ESF grant project JPD 3 and reagent kits for routine diagnostics of selected infections.

Hands-on work with kits (Sample Preparation, Examination, Detection, Result interpreting). In incubation times lectures and instruction videos.

No special knowledge or pre-requisite requirements for entry. Student should bring their own white coat or White shirt (T-shirt) and trousers.
