Student information Class B80306 Internal Medicine - Pulmonary Diseases will take place • Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri - at the Department of Respiratory Medicine, pavilion G1, Thomayer Hospital, Videnska 800, Prague 4 • Wed - at the First Clinic of Tuberculosis and Respiratory Diseases, General University Hospital - Uni Hospital district, pavilion A6, U Nemocnice 2, Prague 2. Class lasts one week, lessons start from 8:00 till 12:15 (Mon from 8:15 - 12:30). Lessons are divided into lectures (from 8:00-10:30) and practical lessons (from 10:45-12:15). On Wed there are only practical lessons (from 8:00-12:15). Neccessary to bring with you: phonendoscope, white medical gown, slippers, name tag. Topics (sylabus):

1. Tumors of lung and pleura, pulmonary metastases, mediastinal tumors.

2. Inflammatory disorders of respiratory system.

3. Tuberculosis and mycobacterioses.

4. Pleural syndrome, thoracic empyema. Thoracentesis, thoracic drainage.

5. Idiopathic interstitial pneumonia, extrinsic allergic alveolitis, pneumoconioses.

6. Lung involvement in vasculitis and connective tissue diseases.

7. Sarcoidosis and other pulmonary granulomatoses.

8. Emergency situations in respiratory medicine.

9. Functional examination - spirometry, bodypletysmography, difussion and other tests

10. Asthma bronchiale.

11. Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

12. Bronchoscopy. Indication. Diagnostic and therapeutic possibilities.

13. Intensive care in respiratory medicine.

14. Indications for thoracic surgery and lung transplantation, preoperative examination and evaluation. Thoracic surgery - thoracic operations.

15. Smoking addiction, lung diseases related to smoking.
