This one-semester course will teach you yoga in accordance with Yoga in Daily Life, the System which leads towards a harmonious development of body, mind, and soul. The classes include physical exercises - asanas, breathing exercises - pranayama, and introduction to meditation. Easy approach allowing for students’ individual needs. For beginners - 1st-2nd part - instructor Savitri Braunová, Advanced level - 3rd-4th part - instructor Petr Potoček.

The objective of the physical education course is to motivate students to adopt a balanced and active lifestyle that includes physical activity and regeneration in addition to routine and work-related activities, and thus helping to maintain the physical and mental potential required for successful performance at school and in everyday life. This objective can only be achieved by developing basic physical abilities and specific physical skills needed for specific sports and regular individual physical exercise. Care for the body, health, and physical fitness is perceived in the process of instructing physical education as a vital component of an individual’s personality.

Every class starts by calming down in a seated position with the Om mantra followed by a short relaxation in a lying position, breathing exercise, stretching, warm-up, asanas according to a corresponding part of the System, relaxation in a lying position, then breathing exercises (pranayama) in a seated position, meditation exercises, and a final Om mantra.

Beginner class objectives: to discover and understand our own body; by means of simple exercise learn how muscles, joints, ligaments work, how movement is related to breathing, and how conscious breathing and movements can affect the human psyche. We will practice some relaxation techniques and breathing exercises, simple mantras, introduction to meditation exercises.
Advanced class objectives: to deepen the perception of the harmony of your body, breath, and mind by practicing more difficult poses (asanas), if possible with better endurance and more precise execution. Revision and deepening of relaxation, simple mantras, more difficult breathing techniques that lead to calming down and meditation.

Beginners class: no special requirements.

Advanced class: expectation of having passed 2 semesters of yoga.Students will need: loose clothes for exercise, ideally long legs and a T-shirt with extended length over the hips, socks are mandatory.If the hygiene regime remains strict it will be necessary to bring your own mat, alternatively a pillow and/or a blanket. If the situation returns back to normal, the mats and pillows will be available at the yoga centre.
