The course is designed for students who have basic knowledge of standard Spanish at A2 level.
The course develops basic language competencies and academic skills to achieve B1 level. Textbook: Vente 2 (B1/B1+) 2014.
The chapters of the textbook form the axis of instruction.
The language taught is mainly Spanish.
The course is a one-semester course, 2x2 hours per week. Participation is obligatory on both days.

The aim of the course is to improve all language skills (speaking, reading, listening, speaking) at B1 level. Students will understand the main ideas of clear written input on common topics they encounter regularly at work, school, leisure, etc. They will learn to manage common situations that may arise when travelling in Spanish-speaking countries. They will learn to write simple, coherent texts on topics they know well or are personally interested in. They will be able to describe their experiences and events, wishes, hopes and goals and be able to explain and justify their opinions and plans in a concise way.

Credit requirements:

The course ends with a credit. To obtain the attestation it is necessary to meet the following requirements:

o   regular attendance (75% lessons attended)

o   home preparation (revision, study of the assigned subject matter)

o   doing homework and meeting the deadlines (online – via Moodle)

o   active work in class (participation, class materials)

o   exam at the end of the semester (at least 60% of points)

Grammar: regular and irregular verbs (selection), reflexive, auxiliary and modal verbs. The imperative (imperativo afirmativo y negativo), basic use of the past tenses (pretérito perfecto, indefinido, imperfecto, plusquamperfecto). Periphrastic verbs (perífrasis verbales), discourse connectors (conectores del discurso), introduction to the present subjunctive (presente de subjuntivo).

Language skills: expressing agreement and disagreement, making phone calls, narration, description, request of permission and help

Reading competences: informative and argumentative text, introduction to academic texts

Writing: structured CV, informal and formal letters/e-mail (carta informal, formal), writing a story, written requests

Speaking: dialogue, conversation, summary, narration, expressing agreement and disagreement, making phone calls, narration, description, request of permission and help.

Vocabulary. Reading of general texts, listening to authentic recordings.

Selection of Hispanic realia.
