The course is devoted to practical training in reading German written sources from the 16th - 19th century. In connection with this issue will be introduced phenomena related to the linguistic and historical situation in the Czech lands in the 20th century with special attention to aspects of German during the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia. 
During the lessons, the students will be acquainted with the translation of German historical texts on examples of concrete texts. 
The seminar focuses on the outline of the development of the German language, an overview of German dialects, familiarization with historical measures and weights and historical holidays and dates, as well as on the comparison of Czech and German geographical names in the Czech Republic. 
The whole topic is adapted to the professional needs of graduates in the field of archival science and auxiliary historical sciences or history. 
Entry to the course is conditional on passing the B2 exam at the Language Center of Charles University.

Credit Active participation in the seminar is required for obtaining the credit. 60% points in the credit test. A maximum of 3 excused absences can be accepted.

Podmínkou pro vstup do kurzu je složení zkoušky B2 v Jazykovém centru UK FF a prokázání znalostí němčiny prostřednictvím vstupního testu, aby byla zajištěna srovnatelná úroveň všech zúčastněných studentů.
