Jednosemestrální předmět navazuje na předměty Tlumočení z listu I a Simultánní tlumočení I. Rozvíjí tlumočnické návyky, dovednosti a kompetence pro tlumočení z listu na úrovni profesionálního konferenčního tlumočení v kvazi-autentickém prostředí vícejazyčných mezinárodních konferencí, odborných a politických jednání, pracovních zasedání institucí EU, parlamentních slyšení, projednávání a čtení legislativních aktů, vernisáží a jiných oficiálních a slavnostních zahajovacích příležitostí.
Cílem semináře je připravit studenty na tento specifický druh tlumočení, který má dichotomický charakter: jde nejen o převod z jazyka výchozího do jazyka cílového, ale i o převod z formy psané do formy mluvené. Tlumočení z listu je ústní převod psaného a pouze písemně předloženého textu do cílového jazyka (při dodržování zásad plynulosti, prezentace, komunikace s posluchači a zachování obsahové i jazykové správnosti). Volba strategií tlumočníka se liší podle množství času na přípravu textu. Důraz je kladen rovněž na tematickou a terminologickou přípravu tlumočníka před akcí a na profesionálně odvedený tlumočnický výkon ve vícejazyčném konferenčním prostředí.
