Předmět navazuje na předměty Konsekutivní tlumočení I a II. Cílem je další rozvoj tlumočnické kompetence (znalosti, dovednosti, návyky, postupy, jednání) nezbytné pro konferenční konsekutivní tlumočení. Seminář stupňuje nároky na profesionální jednání a výkon tlumočníka (plynulost, úplnost a přesnost převodu, neverbální interakce, zátěž a výdrž, paměť, zásady tlumočnické etiky).
Tlumočí se obousměrně delší autentické, odborné či stylisticky náročnější projevy připravené i nepřipravené (v rozsahu 5–6 minut) s různou sociofonetickou charakteristikou mluvčích. Kromě tlumočení delších projevů je do semináře také zařazeno bilaterální tlumočení odborných dialogů a konsekutivní tlumočení odborných powerpointových prezentací, které předpokládají užší interakci s řečníkem. Projevy pokrývají široké spektrum tematických okruhů, včetně těch, jež jsou na pořadu jednání jednotlivých institucí Evropské unie a hlavních mezinárodních organizací (OSN, NATO, OECD, WTO aj.).
Důraz je kladen na obsahovou a terminologickou přípravu tlumočníka před akcí.
