Předmět volně navazuje na přednášku Úvod do hinduismu, povinně volitelnou v bakalářském studiu. Ve výkladu
tradice či tradic, které bývají souhrnně označovány jako hinduismus, se zaměřuje na jejich žitý, praktický aspekt,
spíše než na textovou složku. Zvláštní pozornost je proto věnována ikonografii a rituálu, způsobům interakce se
zobrazeními božstev, poutím a poutním místům, výročním svátkům apod. Kromě pravidelné četby předmět od
studentů vyžaduje ochotu věnovat se předepsaným teoretickým textům a nahlížet skrze ně konkrétní příklady.
