The course focuses on selected topics and problems that connect gender studies and are related to the study of authoritarian and totalitarian regimes. The seminar will not be exclusively addressed to the space of Czechoslovakia, but we will also look at other geographical contexts, especially during the period of state socialism. The aim is to look at specific perspectives and methods applied by historians and other social scientists in the study of gender in the period of dictatorship. The seminar will usually have two parts: at the beginning, we will get a more general insight into the selected topic, in the second part, we will discuss specific texts that all participants will read in advance. |
