An introductory seminar for students of Czech as a foreign language who are interested in working with corpora in Czech national corpus.

The target of the course is to provide a basic orientation in the topics of corpus linguistics, to get acquainted with the available corpora of the Czech National Corpus, to explain the basics of the CQL query language, including basic and advanced search, and to develop student's knowledge of Czech labguage.

The condition for granting the credit will be a short presentation in the form of a corpus analysis of a selected linguistic phenomenon. As we will uncover various possibilities of using corpus data for the study of language phenomena during the semester, students will have the opportunity to choose the area of study that interests them and try out the data analysis, which they will then demonstrate at the seminar.

Podmínkou k udělení zápočtu bude krátké vystoupení v podobě korpusové analýzy vybraného jazykového jevu. Tak, jak budeme v průběhu semestru odkrývat různé možnosti využití korpusových dat pro studium jazykových jevů, budou mít studenti možnost vybrat si oblast studia, která je zajímá, a vyzkoušet si datovou analýzu, kterou pak na semináři předvedou.
