The lectures present the basis of Czech morphology (see the sylabus). The seminar focuses on basic chapters from formal and functional morphology of Czech with the stress on standard Czech by means of discussions, students´presentations, exercices.
Aim of the course -

The objective of the subject is to practically handle of current standard Czech from both the formal (correct usage and building of forms) and functional (mastering the functions and meanings of forms in communication). A significant part of the subject is to become familiar with the basic issues of morphology (terminology, evolution tendencies, morphemic analysis, role of usage in the codification of standard Czech, variants, etc.).

To pass the subject, students have to master the addressed issues, to pass the credits focussed on the formal morphology (75%), to make a required presentation and have the respectice presence rate (three absences are allowed). The exam consist of a written test (functional morphology) and an oral part.

If distance teaching is necessary, it will take place via Skype or Zoom. The students will receive written materials and sources. Active participation of students is expected, however, potential technical and other issues will be considered.

The course must be duly completed before the end of the respective semester; its completion may not be postponed until later.

Repeated registration is allowed.
