The lectures present the basis of Czech morphology (see the sylabus). The seminar focuses on basic chapters from formal and functional morphology of Czech with the stress on standard Czech by means of presentations, discussions, students´ presentations and exercises.

The objective of the subject is to practically handle of current standard Czech from both the formal (correct usage and building of forms) and functional (mastering the functions and meanings of forms in speech communication) perspectives. A significant part of the subject is to become familiar with the basic issues of morphology (terminology, development tendencies, morphemic analysis, the role of usage during the codification od standard Czech, variability, etc.).

In the summer semester a credit is granted for the subject. To pass you have to master the addressed issues, to pass thecredit tests (75%), to make a required presentation and have the respective presence rate (three absences are allowed).

If distance teaching is necessary, it will take place via MS Teams. The students will receive written materials and sources. Active participation of students is expeceted, however, potential technical and other issues will be considered. To pass the subject, students need to prepare a presentation and pass a written test.

The course must be duly completed before the end of the respective semester; its completion may not be postponed until later.

Repeated registration is allowed.
