Annotation -
This course is an intensive study of the theories, principles, and methods of counseling. It consists of experiential integration of theoretical material and basic counseling skills to learn how to intervene most effectively considering client worldview, experiences, and goals. Course will be taught through lecture, discussion, review of readings and resources, use of video and assessment, networking with guest speakers, and mini mock counseling sessions.

Developing a personal paradigm, doing case study work, learning about theories, practicing basic counseling skills tied to theory, and presenting and discussing counseling theory on one’s own and in groups with peers and professor. Basic counseling skills reviewed and introduced are as follows:
