The aim of the course is to introduce selected medieval texts of literature in German. Through analysis of these texts, which is based mainly on comparing theoriginal with various types of translation, studentsshould understand the literary culture of medievalliterature.On the basis of primary and secondary literature studentsshould acquaint themselves with Germanic mythology,pagan literature, Christian literature, romaunt, heroicepic (Nibelungenlied, Gudrunlied), medieval Germanlyric (minesang). Authors discussed: Wulfila, Hartmanvon Aue, Wolfram von Eschenbach, Gottfried von Strassburg,Walter von der Vogelweide.

Cílem semináře je seznámit studenty s německou středověkou literaturou, s jejím vývojem a změnami od jejího počátku až do konce středověku. Studenti se prakticky obeznámí s nejdůležitějšími směry středověké literatury a s nejvýznamnějšími autory a díly. Raný středověk: zaklínadla, požehnání, hrdinský zpěv Hildebrandslied, Wessobrunner Gebet, Muspilli, Heliand, Otfridova Kniha evangelií (Evangelienbuch), Ludwigslied. Vrcholný středověk: Die Kaiserchronik, předdvorská epická lit. - Alexanderlied, špílmanský epos, ranný minnesang (Der von Kürenberg), Walter von der Vogelweide . Dvorský epos - Hartmann von Aue, Wolfram von Eschenbach, Gottfried von Straßburg. Hrdinský epos Nibelungenlied. Pozdní stredověk: Der Stricker - bispel, humorné příběhy, Wernher der Gartenaere (Meier Helmbrecht). Konrad von Würzburg. Frauenlob. Mystika (Mechtild von Magdeburg, Meister Eckhart).
