An outline of French drama (theatre of the Middle Ages, classical theatre, bourgeois drama, boulevard theatre, romantic drama). A detailed look at 2Oth-century drama; Naturalism and Symbolism in drama (Jarry, Cocteau, Antoine, Artaud), theatre and myth (Cocteau, Giraudoux, Anouilh), committed theatre (Sartre, Camus), new theatre (Beckett, Ionesco, Vian, Adamov). J. Vilar's famous theatre stages and festivals. Theatre policy in France.

L'objectif de ce cours est d'analyser les différents genres littéraires a travers l'histoire et de s'interroger sur les implications inhérentes a l'évolution des genres.
