Introductory lecture to the inorganic materials is intended for the students oriented to the studies of Inorganic materials. The students will receive the information about basic fields and orientation of actual material engineering and position of inorganic materials in this field. They will receive the basic information about classification of inorganic materials according to characteristic properties (conductors, semiconductors, isolation materials) and according to its behaviour in various application conditions. They will be also informed about basic directions of the research of inorganic materials, from the stage of its preparation and technological treatments through the studies of its properties to the designing of the new compounds with the tailored properties for the practical use. The attention will be also paid to the research in the field of nanostructured materials, mainly to the semiconductors (quantum dots, non-linear optical properties) and magnetic materials (monodomain particles, superparamagnetic state). The students will also receive some basic information about instrumental techniques used for the characterization of inorganic materials.
The course is designed for Master and PhD students.
