The course focuses on preparation for the exam, which is a condition for completing a doctoral study, in particular on deepening presentation skills and creating a professional article. Students of the doctoral study program will become familiar with professional literature written in English and the specifics of academic English. They will learn to apply and expand their professional vocabulary when discussing and arguing about issues in a given medical field.

Kurz je zaměřen na přípravu ke zkoušce, která je podmínkou pro ukončení doktorského studia, zejména na prohloubení prezentačních dovedností a vytvoření odborného článku. Studenti doktorského studijního programu se seznámí s anglicky psanou odbornou literaturou a specifiky akademické angličtiny. Naučí se aplikovat a rozšíří si odbornou slovní zásobu při diskutování a argumentaci k problematice daného lékařského oboru.

Written Part
Writing a scientific paper in English in the relevant field, with a length of 7–12 standard pages:
ØFormat: A4
ØLine spacing: 1.5
ØMargins: 3 cm on the left, 2 cm on the right, 2.5 cm at the top and bottom
ØFont: Arial, Times New Roman, Verdana, or Calibri
ØFont size: 12
ØStructure: 1. Title page, 2. Abstract, 3. Main text, 4. References
The article must be submitted no later than 14 days before the scheduled date of the oral part of the exam
Oral Part
Presentation based on the written paper:
Introduction of the candidate (5 minutes)
Presentation (minimum 10 and maximum 15 minutes)
Discussion (5minutes)
Evaluation based on criteria available in Moodle
At least one consultation with the examiner must take place before the oral exam
